Wellington Boot 2019

April 1, 2019

The Wellington Boot Carnival is highly anticipated and ensures that the town of Wellington is filled to capacity during its annual hosting. The Country Racing Carnival consists of two days of hotly contested racing that features the running of the Wellington Boot (1100m) $150,000, Wellington Cup (1700m) $100,000 and Wellington Town Plate (1100m) $50,000. It’s a showcase meeting  which provides lucrative incentives for the states trainers to travel to Wellington and enjoy the weekend of racing.

The Wellington Boot is steeped in history and is a race targeted by trainers looking to let their up and coming 2YO’s fly around the Wellington circuit. It attracts the top metropolitan stables looking to mix it with the regions best juveniles. Last year saw the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott speedster ADAGIRL set up an commanding break upon straightening before being swamped by the talented Bjorn Baker star MISS INVINCIBLE.

The local legend Greg Ryan is always prominent during the carnival and he rode the winner causing chaos as the crowd cheered and celebrated another running of the Wellington Boot. The racing on Saturday gives the travellers a chance to settle into a 6 race card that has attracted a healthy 130 nominations and when the festivities have finished you get the chance to head to the Wellington Soldiers Club for the hosting of the annual Wellington Boot Calcutta. We have all of the ingredients for having a great time and more importantly help the Wellington Race Club showcase country racing in the highly competitive region of the Central West, NSW.
