Tickets are on sale now and selling fast for the historic 2022 Over The Line Racing Wellington Boot Carnival to be held on Friday 25 March and Sunday 27 March.

Carrying record prizemoney of almost $750,000, the carnival will break new ground this year, being held on a Friday and Sunday for the first time.

Friday will feature the $40,000 Over The Line Racing Iron Horse Challenge and the $27,000 KFC Golden Spur while Boot Day on Sunday will be highlighted by the $200,000 Over The Line Racing Wellington Boot, as well as the $100,000 Keirle’s Pharmacy Wellington Cup, the $50,000 Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club Town Plate, $40,000 Country Magic and $35,000 KFC Zinger.

Wellington Race Club president Ian Darney said the Wellington Boot Carnival was one of the richest outside the metropolitan area, attracting participants and racegoers from all over NSW and interstate.

“The Boot Carnival injects more than a million dollars into the Wellington economy each year and with the carnival spread over three days this year, we hope racegoers will spend even more in town this year,” he said.

Mr Darney said the club had been working with Racing NSW for a number of years to have a full TAB meeting on the first day of the carnival.

“Highlighted by the Over The Line Racing Iron Horse Challenge (2400m) and the KFC Golden Spur, Wellington will now have two feature race meetings in March,” he said.

The 42nd running of the Over The Line Racing Wellington Boot (1100m) is sure to attract a quality field of two-year-olds.

Wellington Race Club secretary Dale Jones is urging people to go to as soon as possible to buy their tickets and guarantee they are on course for this year’s Boot.

“While we hope to sell tickets at the gate, it is advisable to get your tickets online in case they sell out,” he said.

Racegoers can attend the Boot in style by travelling on a special heritage train from Orange on Boot Day. The train leaves Orange at 10.30am and will also pick up passengers at Stuart Town. Tickets for the heritage train experience can also be purchased at

As in previous years, the Wellington Boot Carnival is more than just a race meeting, with plenty of activities off the track, including the De Bortoli’s Wines Fashions on the Field, live entertainment, raceday marquees, on-course automatic teller machines and full TAB facilities and bookmakers’ ring.
