The Wellington Boot carnival held over two days in early autumn plays out in the state’s central western district on picturesque landscape adjacent the Bell River, with a view in the west to Mt Arthur which overlooks the town. The Wellington Boot carnival is accompanied by six other days’ racing throughout the year, with the Boxing Day non-TAB a particular favourite for locals. Prizemoney has steadily increased to $750,000 with the Wellington Boot staked at $200,000 and the Wellington Cup carrying a $100,000 purse. Iconic, unique, the carnival attracts horses from near and far, with local trainers vying with their city counterparts for the spoils.
