For the past 40 years and more, Autumn in Wellington has been known as Boot Time, but this year it is Re-Boot Time.
The town is gearing up for the 42nd Wellington Boot Carnival on Friday March 25 and Sunday March 27, with crowds allowed back on Wellington Racecourse after the Covid 19 lockdown meant the race was run without any racegoers at the track.
However, while Covid restrictions have eased, crowd caps are still in place so a limited number of people will be able to attend, making tickets to the carnival hot property. That’s why Wellington Race Club secretary Dale Jones is urging people to buy their tickets as soon as possible.
“We able to have a big enough crowd to recreate the wonderful atmosphere for which the Wellington Boot is renowned, but we can’t have the very large numbers that have attended the race meeting during its heyday,” he said.
“For that reason people should go to www.123tix.com.au as soon as possible to buy their tickets and guarantee they are on course for this year’s Boot.”
Mr Jones said that at this stage tickets would also be sold at the gate over the weekend, but if pre-sold tickets reached the Covid limit, the Boot would be sold out and no tickets would be available at the gate.
“Tickets are selling fast, so don’t be disappointed,” he said.
As in previous years, the $625,000 Wellington Boot Carnival is more than just a race meeting, with plenty of activities off the track, including Thoroughbred Events Australia Fashions on the Field, the Boot Day luncheon, entertainment, full TAB facilities and bookmakers and raceday marquees.
